What this is

ButcherAtlas is a free directory of butcher shops in the United States, organised by state and city. Every listing has an address; most have a phone number, and where a business publishes its hours or services we show those too. Listings come from open data and from the businesses themselves, who can correct their card at any time — about the directory. Nothing on the lists is paid placement.

Pick a state above, or use the “near me” button to jump to the butcher shops closest to you. City pages show the full list with a map; state pages collect smaller towns that have a single shop.

First visit? Tell the counter what you're cooking, not which cut you think you need — a good butcher matches the cut to the dish and often saves you money doing it.

Common questions

Is meat from a butcher shop better than the grocery store?

Usually — independent butchers source from specific farms, cut to order and age beef properly. Prices on premium cuts are often comparable to supermarkets, and cheaper cuts come with free advice on cooking them right.

Do butcher shops take special orders?

Almost all do — whole briskets, crown roasts, custom-thickness steaks and holiday birds are standard requests. Order several days ahead, and a week or more before major holidays.

Do butchers process deer and other game?

Many do, especially in hunting states — look for shops listing game processing. Typical whitetail processing runs $75–150 for basic cuts, more for sausage and jerky. Call ahead in season; slots fill fast.
